Alexander urges residents to have say on £13M Aviemore hospital plan
Badenoch and Strathspey MP Danny Alexander is calling on residents to have their say on the location of the new hospital in Aviemore.
Four sites are currently being proposed: Granish Farm, Milton, Cairngorm Technology Park, and The Pony Field.
Submissions close on Monday 21st July.
Mr Alexander said: “It is quite right that people living in Badenoch and Strathspey are given the opportunity to have their say on the proposals for the new hospital in Aviemore.
“Both Ian Charles and Saint Vincent’s do a good job for their communities and the new hospital must be fit for taking on all the complexities of servicing communities right across Badenoch and Strathspey.
“I urge everyone who has view on the matter to submit their views to NHS Highland. I would be happy to help raise your views or you can write to them directly.”
Ms Kate Stephen, prospective Scottish Parliamentary candidate for Badenoch said: “I know that for many people the thought of a consultation process can be daunting.
"But it is vital that as many local folk as possible give their views on the location of the new hospital.
“The new facility will be at the heart of Highland healthcare for many years to come and it is important that we get it right.
“Whether they are concerns over transport or questions about the healthcare the hospital will provide, this is the time to get involved and influence what will be decided in the next few months.”
Badenoch & Strathspey Highland councillor, Gregor Rimell, commented: “A team from across the communities is working to make sure everyone, who wishes to, contributes to the survey. No matter is too small to raise.
“Only when the care package for the area is agreed will the accommodation be designed. It is care first, then provide the right facilities. It is also vital to have the transport to make sure all patients and visitors can get to the new hospital.
“I welcome views on what we need and how we achieve it. Anyone who wishes help to make their views heard is welcome to contact me. This is the biggest opportunity of our generation.”
