Road issues to be discussed at Boat of Garten meeting

Transport Scotland will discuss road issues at Drumuillie and other local areas on Saturday morning at Boat of Garten Community Hall from 10am.

A public consultation has been arranged at the suggestion of local MSP Fergus Ewing, who told the Strathy: "Transport Scotland are organising the event, where the minor trunk road improvement, active travel paths and the speeding will be on the agenda. I have asked them to attend to two faults - the speed indicator sign and the 'ponding' on the main road on the dip just beyond the sawmill."

The meeting will be addressed by Transport Scotland officials, a road policing representative and someone from HITRANS.

Richard Egan of AMEY, who have just taken over the trunk road maintenance contract from BEAR Scotland, will also speak.

AMEY will be responsible for the work for the at least the next eight years with an option for a further four year extension.

After the addresses, questions and points will be invited and a discussion will take place.

"All with an interest are welcome," said Mr Ewing.
