A9 resurfacing due at Inverness
Motorists using the A9 between Longman Roundabout to Raigmore Junction in Inverness will benefit from an improved road surface following completion of resurfacing works which start next month.
The £220,000 investment by Transport Scotland will see works carried out on a 1km section of the southbound A9 dual carriageway over the course of six nights.
To keep disruption to a minimum the improvements will be carried out between 7pm and 7am each night from Sunday March 5 for six nights, with no works taking place on Friday or Saturday nights.
To ensure the safety of road workers and road users, temporary traffic lights and a 10mph convoy system will be in operation while works are undertaken. Traffic management will be removed out with working hours to limit the impact to motorists.
Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s Representative for the North West, said: “These essential resurfacing works will create a much improved road surface, greatly increasing the ride quality of the carriageway.
“We are doing everything possible to minimise disruption during the works, including carrying out the resurfacing at night and avoiding weekend working. Our teams will look to complete the works as quickly and safely as possible.
“We’d encourage road users to plan their journeys in advance by checking the Traffic Scotland website and leaving extra time to reach their destination.”
