A woman had to be taken to hospital yesterday (Sunday) after a six vehicle smash on the A9 Inverness-Perth road at Ralia by Newtonmore.

Police, together with units from the Scottish Ambulance Service and the Highlands and Islands Fire and Rescue Service with Helimed attended the scene after the accident which occurred at around 5.15pm.

A police spokesman said: "The road was closed for a short period of time and one injured female was taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness by road ambulance with minor injuries.

"The A9 was fully opened within a short period of time."
