A new leaf will be turned for the Strathspey and Badenoch Herald today (Thursday) when the paper goes from a broadsheet to a compact format.

The first edition of the new look Strathy is serving up a whopping 64 pages full of new content and columnists as well as local news and sport and your old favourites.

The changes also include a new publication day – first thing Thursday morning rather than Wednesday morning – but the price will be staying the same at just 75 pence.

The Strathy website will also be taking on the new colour scheme of the paper and masthead along with the printed version of the newspaper.

Editor Gavin Musgrove pledged that the newspaper – and website – will not lose sight of what it is best at.

He said: "We will still be the same when it comes to reporting local news. That's our unique selling point after all. Nowhere else can you get as much comprehensive coverage of what is happening on your doorstep than in the Strathy."

As part of the relaunch, the Strathy wants to hear even more about readers' news and views and to share their photographs of special occasions.

New additions in today's paper include Strathy People, new ents and a feature called "7", Burning Issues and some overhauls for favourites including Ken Gorm and Down Memory Lane.

There is plenty more new content and more columnists to follow in the coming weeks.

Mr Musgrove said: "We do appreciate that the Strathy has been at the heart of local communities since our earliest forerunner, the Kingussie Record, was first published in 1902, and that is where we will remain, whatever our shape."

It's never been easier to get in touch with the Strathy, whether by phoning our offices in Grantown on (01479) 872102 and Kingussie on (01540) 661533, email at editorial@sbherald.co.uk, via Facebook and Twitter or through this website.
