Look out for this lad on the local running tracks – and beyond. Young Joe Coyle of Newtonmore Primary is a real athletics talent and proved it recently.

He claimed first place in P4/5 boys race at the Mcrobert Cup cross country event for Highland Schools at Bught Park, Inverness.

Described by those in the know as “a super wee athlete,” Joe is a very talented all-rounder.

His fellow runners certainly discovered that in the Highland capital – there were something like 190 runners from across all Highland schools in his race and the Badenoch boy didn’t just come home first, he did so by something like 10 seconds.

Joe is certainly one to watch and that beautiful medal he’s holding up for us is surely just one of many, many more to come.
