BUCKIE Thistle made it 18 Highland League wins in a row to effectively end Brora Rangers' reign as champions.

Jags thrashed their title rivals 5-0 on a night to forget for the Cattachs, who had their goalkeeper sent off.

Marcus Goodall opened the scoring for the home side with a sensational volley on 12 minutes - see footage below.

Max Barry added a second before Brora keeper Lenny Wilson was sent off for an off-the-ball incident, leaving the visitors with ten men for the last hour.

Jags duly took advantage and Jack Murray, Barry again and Kyle MacLeod wrapped up a convincing win.

Goals by Sean Butcher and Ryan Sargent earned Fraserburgh a 2-0 win at Formartine United to keep them top by a point with seven games left to play.

Brora now trail the leaders by six points having played a game more and seem likely to miss out on winning the league for a third season running.

Rothes also need a miracle to get back in the chase but kept their hopes alive with a 3-1 victory at Turriff United.

The Speysiders trailed to Rory Brown's twice-taken penalty after just three minutes but hit back in style with first half strikes by Ryan McRitchie, Ally macKenzie and Craig Cormack.

McRitchie was sent off near the end but Rothes moved to within nine points of fourth-placed Brora with three games in hand.

Strathspey Thistle were unable to add to their win over Turriff United at the weekend when they went down 4-2 defeat at home to Clach.

Two Robbie Thomson goals and James Anderson's 20th of the season had the Inverness men in command before Andrew Skinner pulled one back with 10 minutes to go for a very slight glimmer of hope for the Grantown side.

But sub Connor Bunce made it 4-1 before Elgin City loan youngster Jake Thomson had the final say for the Jags.

Deveronvale made it back-to-back wins with a 4-2 success at Keith, helped by Dane Ballard's hat-trick.

The striker netted inside a minute and added a second after Keith missed a penalty, although Przemyslaw Nawrocki pulled one back before half time.

Max Stewart added to Saturday's hat-trick with a third Vale goal and Ballard completed his own treble before Nawrocki got his second for a Maroons consolation.
