Strathspey Thistle have confirmed the signing of keeper Robert Donaldson from fellow Highland League side Rothes.

Donaldson was at the Grantown club for a short time early in his playing career.

He has been with the Mackessack Park outfit for the past three seasons and will be challenging Mike MacCallum for the number one jersey.

Local boy Donaldson started off with Inverness Caledonian Thistle Youths and was there for six years.

He was then with Caley Thistle full time with the Under 20s, and had stints at Clach and the Jags.

He then went on the play junior football with Cromdale based Spey Valley FC where he won the league title and has spent the last three years with Rothes.

Jags boss Charlie Brown said: “We are delighted to get another quality keeper added to our squad who will bring experience and provide competition for the number one jersey.”

Club president Donly McLeod said that Donaldson has been brought in to compete with MacCallum for the position between the sticks.
