Strathspey Thistle boss Ryan Esson has told his players to put their British Gas Scottish Cup disappointment to one side.

He hopes that trusting the process will end up with the Jags turning the corner in the results column.

The former Caley keeper has been encouraged by recent showings and thinks they could have had more points on the board.

Even Saturday’s 6-0 cup defeat to Sauchie Juniors was not as bad as the scoreline suggests, he said.

He told the Strathy: “I have watched the game back.

“Obviously straight after the match you’re a little bit more emotional than sometimes you should be...”

“I feel on the whole we are in a good place and we just need to put last Saturday to one side.”

Attention has switched to a tough home match against Banks O’Dee tomorrow.

Esson said: “They are a really strong side with big quality players.

“But we go into the game positive.

But the injuries are continuing to mount up for Esson and the Jags.

Cameron Lisle who has been impressing was out for the British Gas Scottish Cup game while James McShane took a knock in the match and is a weekend doubt adding to the central defensive problems.

“These things happen and we have to ride the storm - sometimes that storm can last longer than anticipated.

“But there is always a calm and I am hoping that calm comes soon.

“We have been playing well - there are positives we have picked up a win, we have picked up a draw, we have kept a cleansheet.

“We proved we can be resilient in our game against Nairn.

“It is within the capability of this squad to get positive results.”
