SCOTLAND under-21 defender Calum Grant was rewarded for an outstanding season by being crowned Kingussie's first team player of the year and the players' player of the year.

The club held its dinner dance and 2019 player of the year awards at the Duke of Gordon Hotel on Saturday after the Liz Young Sixes in Aviemore.

Players, committee members and supporters gathered to celebrate a hugely successful 2019 shinty season during which the Red and Blues lifted the Premier Division title for the first time in a decade.

The young player of the year accolade was given to Scotland under-17 player Kieran Macpherson while Cluanie Fraser was named the club's most committed player.

The volunteer of the year honour was shared between stalwarts Dallas Young and Iain Borthwick for their contributions to coaching.

All awards were presented by Kingussie chieftain Joe Taylor.

Badenoch Ladies presented their awards too with Rhona McIntyre rounding off a great season with the player of the year prize. Roma Fraser was the under-18 player of the year while the most improved player of the year was Eilidh Ross.
