THE imminent arrival of Storm Ciara meant Saturday morning pitch inspections were the order of the day but there were no issues at Kincraig where the Newtonmore seniors ran out 4-0 winners against their Beauly counterparts.

Iain Robinson, Drew MacDonald, David MacLean and Jamie Robinson got the goals.

The opener was a well-worked effort following good work from Drew MacDonald down the wing and he slipped the ball to Iain Robinson who flicked it over the on-rushing keeper to make it 1-0.

The second goal came following a dribbling run and good finish from Christopher Sellar while a powerful long-range shot from David MacLean, against his former club, left the keeper no chance to make it 3-0.

There was a touch of fortune to 'More's final goal of the afternoon as a mishit from the Beauly keeper fell to Jamie Robinson who finished neatly.

It was a relatively quiet return to goalkeeping duties for Owen Fraser who takes over between the sticks from Kenny Ross.

The result got new Newtonmore first team manager Orsten Gardner's tenure off to a winning start and it was the same outcome for new 'More second boss Peter Ross as his charges won 5-2 at Spean Bridge against the Lochaber second team, who have rejoined Mowi North Division 2 this season following a year out.

Last season's top scorer for 'More Craig Macleod continued where he left last term with a brace.

Arron MacBean, newly-named 'More second team skipper Somhairle Thomson and Duncan Gorman got the others with Bruno Berardelli and Robbie Rydings countering for Lochaber.
