Kingussie seconds just two points away from title win and instant return to North One
Kingussie seconds now need just two more points to guarantee the North 2 title but face a wait this weekend.
This is assuming that second placed Lewis keep winning their matches.
In fact the Red and Blues would have been crowned champions at the weekend but Lewis won 2-1 at the Kilmallie seconds on Saturday.
Kingussie do not have a fixture this weekend whist Lewis take part in the annual Heb- Celt match against Uist Camanachd.
The Kings have two more league games remaining and they are awaiting scheduled dates for trips to play their Lochaber and Strathglass counterparts.
They beat Boleskine 4-1 in their latest league outing at the Dell.
Kingussie co-manager John Gibson said: “We didn’t play particularly well against Boleskine and were a bit laboured to say the least.
“Other than the goals, we didn’t really have a shot on target the whole of the first half which was frustrating.
“We were a good bit better in the second half with Mike Slimon getting his hat-trick.
“Our better performers were Rory Munro, Macleod Dawson, Darren Hanlon and, as usual, James Hutchison.
“We actually played better shinty at Kilmallie the week before in terrible conditions but perhaps that just underlines the inconsistency of second team shinty.
“In the end, it was the result we needed if not the performance we were looking for.”
Boleskine took a surprise lead with Robert Taylor netting on 25 minutes but Mike Slimon on 34 minutes and Miko Berowski just three minutes later had the hosts 2-1 ahead at the interval.
Mike Slimon went on to complete his hat-trick with goals on 50 and 85 minutes.
Kingussie second’s next scheduled match at present is the eagerly awaited HIS Sutherland Cup semi-final against their Newtonmore counterparts on Saturday 3 August.
