Keir nets five goals as Strathspey Thistle lose 8-2 away to defending champions





Goals were in plentiful supply in the Highland League last night night.

Highest scorers were Buckie Thistle who made it 15 goals scored in two games with an 8-2 romp against bottom club Strathspey Thistle.

Lyall Keir netted five times for Jags after Marcus Goodall and Sam Pugh had given them a 2-0 lead. Craig Cormack also scored his first goal for Buckie.

Aaron Nicolson struck twice in a minute after half time to reduce the score to 4-2 at one point.

Forres Mechanics’ four-game winning run was ended by a 4-0 defeat at Keith.

A first for the Maroons for defender Ronan Craib and first two for midfielder Horace Ormsby stunned Cans, with James Brownie also netting for the home team to build on Saturday’s surprise win at Brora.

Clach also went goal crazy with seven at home to Wick Academy.

Captain Harry Nicolson scored two and James Anderson, Scott Davidson, Lewis Mackenzie, Jack Davison and Connor Bunce got one each in a 7-0 win for the Inverness men.

Angus Grant was a first half hat-trick hero for Huntly in their 3-2 win at Banks o’ Dee.

Hamish MacLeod and a Ross Still own goal got two back for Dee in the second period.

Four first half goals set up Inverurie Locos for a 4-0 success over Turriff United. Greg Mitchell, Cole Anderson, Aidan Wilson and Lloyd Robertson found the net.

Formartine United had to wait for an hour for a breakthrough at Lossiemouth but goals by Jonny Crawford and Scott Adams earned a 2-0 win at Grant Park.

Brechin City returned to top spot, beating Deveronvale 2-0 with Dayle Robertson getting both goals.
