Strathspey Thistle have now eclipsed last season’s points haul with more than half the season still to go.

Boss Ryan Esson says that it is a measure of how far the former Highland League strugglers have come in the past 12 months.

But he is keen for his side to find more consistency and go on a run with a kinder looking fixture list this coming month before a tough December.

Goals from Ross County loanee Calum Brown (7th), Josh Race (53rd) and Sam Morrison (69th) gave the Grantown side all three points against Huntly last weekend.

The win came as a relief for the Seafield Park club after a cruel run of three defeats when their performances merited adding to their league tally

Esson said: “Saturday’s win was long overdue if I am being honest. I felt we should've got a draw against Forres.

“We missed a couple of really good chances against Wick and I felt we should've taken three points but a minimum of a draw and then the Nairn game was a bit of a basketball game.

“It could have been anything but I thought again we should have got at least a draw.

“They are games that I felt we probably could have won but look these things happen.”

“But the worry would have been if we were not creating chances and we are not in games but that’s not the case.”

The Seafield Park outfit is now on 18 points from 15 games and a positive result tomorrow away to Turriff United could send them back into the top 10.

Esson said: “It is about us trying to get a bit of consistency of results on the board. I’d like to go on a run now.

“We've got more points now than we picked up for in the whole of last season so that that's a huge positive for us.

“It just shows you how far we've come in the past year.”

There are no new injury worries for Esson and County loanee midfielder George Robeston will be assessed for a hamstring niggle after being sidelined on Saturday.
