Member of the Galbraith Highland Tennis League committee will meet for the first time in many years to probe a number of alleged breaches to various rules in recent weeks.

They will examine several controversial call-offs involving the clubs in Nairn and Lossiemouth when they gather on Thursday.

A league committee spokesman said: "The league committee is meeting on Thursday to discuss breaches of various rules. This will be the first time in years a formal meeting has had to be called."

Meanwhile Kingussie ladies managed a draw against Nairn B in the Division 2 top of the table match. A share of the points was the most that the Badenochers could hope for as they were only able to field two players.

That situation, for a home club, does not happen very often but the homesters managed to win both played rubbers to gain the two hoped for points.

The teams are both on twelve points.

Meanwhile a matter has arisen that could impact the outcome of the promotion place. Nairn A infringed the rules by cancelling fixtures two weeks running in favour of their B team. The matter is being investigated. Grantown ladies travelled to Elgin and suffered a 7-3 defeat.

Derby day at Rothiemurchus saw the B and C teams fight it out, resulting in a 5-5 draw.

The second string lead the way on 14 points with the thirds one point behind. The eventual winner of the 3rd Division (Highland) will be involved in a play-off with the winner of the 3rd Division (Moray & Strathspey).

In the Men’s First Division, Grantown A remain bottom dogs but the fight goes on to stave off relegation goes on.

They must defeat fellow strugglers Inverness, who are on the same points tally and Forres A who are one point ahead. The Grantonians latest outing was a home encounter against Inverness, the teams having to accept a draw and two points each.

The result though did have the effect of closing the gap on Forres.

Kingussie travelled to Nairn in the hope of keeping the pressure on leaders Lossiemouth. In the event, the teams drew and the 4-4 score line draws Kingussie level on points with the coasters.

Lossie however have a match in hand due to a controversial postponement of their visit to Inverness.
