The Grantown Tennis Open is underway with the first two days being blessed by good weather and more sunshine forecast to come.

The U8 and U9 matches have been completed through the day time with the adult competitions taking place from mid-afternoon onwards up to now on the clay courts.

There are 140 entries for the grade 4 tournament with 33 different events attracting players from all across the region and even a nationally ranked Turkish player in Kaan Donmez who impressed against local favourite Andrew Mcleod yesterday in the men’s singles.

It was a good day too for home club coaches Alistair Mcleod who progressed along with Pauline Mitchell against Brian Mackenzie and Jane Chisholm in the mixed doubles 45+ quarter finals.
