Grantown's Andrew Murphie made a clean sweep of events as the Forres Highland Games returned for the first time in three years.

Competing in the Junior Heavies at Grant Park on Saturday, the S5 Grantown Grammar pupil won the Scots hammer, shot putt, weight for distance and caber tossing.

Cheered on by an enthusiastic crowd, he then set a personal best of 17’6” for the 28lb weight over bar.

Andrew’s coach, Dave Garman of Grantown East Heritage and Cultural Centre, said: "Andrew is the people’s champion, keeping alive the physical culture of this area of Scotland.

"The Highland Games are a critical element of that culture. There is hope that the next generation will take up this activity and keep it alive well into the future."
