SCOTLAND'S Chris Doak is the halfway leader in the Scottish Hydro Challenge after carding a three under par 68 today.

It was not quite as good as yesterday's new course record of 63 but means that the 33 year old heads the field by one stroke.

The Team Scottish Hydro player looked like he was going to reduce the rest of the field into a battle for second spot early in the second round after three birdies in his opening four holes sent him six shots clear of the field.

But a problem with his driver saw the Scotsman cancel out four more birdies with a double and two single bogeys.

Also in contention after 64s in the second round are Portugal’s José Filipe Lima, Italy’s Federico Colombo and England’s Matthew Southgate.

Sweden's Jesper Kennegard had gotten his professional career off to a dream start yesterday with a six under par 65 to leave him in second place.

However his round today included two sevens and he missed the cut at two under.

The leading 60 players will now battle it out for the 220,000 Euro purse over the weekend.

Admission is free of charge.
