Today's 180th Aviemore Parkrun saw a timely reminder than participants don't have to run at all, if they don't want to.

The reminder came from Eleanor McNicol.

Said race director Hilary Quick: "Eleanor gave a wonderful reminder that we welcome walkers and joggers as well as runners - she had forgotten her trainers when she came up for the weekend, so did a brisk walk and thoroughly enjoyed it!"

As ever, the organisers welcomed many visitors to the village's superb course for the weekly 5km challenge.

Today saw 73 people run, jog and walked the course, including 30 were first-timers.

The event saw nine new personal bests recorded, with a total of 18 different clubs represented.

The event was made possible by the following stalwart volunteers: Michael Barker, Emma Sinclair, Katie Hanson, Tim Pott, Aoife NiMhaoileoin, Hilary Quick, Claire Howie, Bill Dewitt and Iona Taylor.

The full results and a complete event history can be found on the Aviemore parkrun Results Page.

Next week (May 7) the event will be celebrating its fifth birthday and the organising team are hoping for a big turnout of locals.
