Formartine United move joint-top of Highland League despite double red card while Aberdeen kid lands Lossiemouth victory and Rothes lose seven at Clachnacuddin

There’s new joint-leaders in the Highland League after a dramatic clash with three red cards shown.

Fraserburgh continued their good form with a 4-1 win over Strathspey Thistle.

All of Broch’s goals came in the opening 32 minutes with Sean Butcher (2), Scott Barbour and Lewis Duncan scoring.

Dylan Lawrence netted a late consolation for Jags.

Formartine United took advantage of Brora Rangers’ slip-up at Banks o’ Dee with a fine comeback to defeat Deveronvale and join the Cattachs at the top.

Vale led early on through Jamie Maclellan’s strike and it took United until midway through the second half to level through Hamish Ritchie.

Formartine were then reduced to ten men when Graeme Rodger was sent off against his former club Vale.

However the numerical disadvantage didn’t deter the visitors as they took the lead though Rory McAllister with 15 minutes to go.

Deveronvale player boss Garry Wood was also sent off against his former club, then United went down to nine men for Rhys Thomas’ second dismissal of the campaign.

There was still time for the nine men to add a third goal through Brody Alberts and sealed victory.

Banks o’ Dee also came from behind to defeat Brora 3-1 at Spain Park.

Craig Mackenzie netted first for the away team but a Liam Duell double and a Mark Gilmour goal turned it around for Dee and handed the Cattachs their second defeat of the campaign.

Lossiemouth recorded only their second win of the season thanks to a young Aberdeen prospect.

The Coasters pulled off a superb 1-0 success at Wick Academy with Dons loan teenager Tristan Stephen getting the only goal on 72 minutes.

Brechin City thumped Forres Mechanics 6-2 and are just a point behind Brora and Formartine.

Mitch Taylor, two for Finlay Allan and one each by Grady McGrath, Kieran Sweeney and Cillian Sheridan overwhelmed cans, despite top scorer Calum Frame’s double to take him to 15 goals for the campaign.

It was a tough day for bottom side Rothes as they took a seven-goal thrashing at Clachnacuddin.

The match was goalless until the final minute of the first half when Troy Cooper edged Clach in front.

The floodgates opened after the break with Struan Coli, James Anderson (3), Allan MacPhee and Cooper with his second easing the Inverness men to a win that puts them just two points off top spot.

It was goalless at Victoria Park with Buckie Thistle and Huntly unable to break the deadlock.

Paul Coutts netted Inverurie Locos first half penalty winner against

Keith, before getting himself sent off late in the game for a second booking.

Nairn County were 3-0 winners over Turriff United.

Ben Kelly and Fraser Dingwall had Nairn two goals up inside ten minutes and Paul Brindle added a third at the end.
