Work to resume on A9 Spey Bridge by Kingussie but for one day only

Workers are to return for one day in mid-January to complete essential maintenance on the A9 bridge over the Spey by Kingussie.

The project had been due for completion on December 20.

A spokesperson for contractor BEAR Scotland said: “Unfortunately, surfacing on the northbound verge areas of the bridge deck was unable to be completed on the A9 Spey river bridge due to poor weather conditions.

“Operatives will return for one night on Monday 20 January 2025 to complete the work under temporary traffic lights.”

The road resurfacing and bridge deck refurbishment works started on September 9, last year, and have caused traffic hold-ups.

The works have involve concrete repairs, replacing the bridgedeck waterproofing, resurfacing the road and installing new expansion joints.

They are being carried out to prevent defects in the road surfacing caused by the failure of the former underlying bridge waterproofing.
