Woman airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary in a ‘serious’ condition after A9 crash involving a car, a lorry and a bus

Medical staff have said that a woman who was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary is in “serious condition” following a crash involving a car, a lorry and a bus at 18.40 yesterday between Aviemore and Tomatin.

A male passenger in the car was taken to Raigmore Hospital for treatment and is in a stable condition while the male driver of the car and a child passenger were also taken by ambulance to Raigmore Hospital to be checked over.

The incident happened on the A9 between the Granish junction at Aviemore and Tomatin and led to the road being closed until around 01.30 in the early hours of the morning.

As well as police, the ambulance service and the air ambulance the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service also attended the scene with four fire appliances and a heavy rescue unit from Inverness, Aviemore, Grantown, Kingussie and Carrbridge.

In a statement police said that enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision and anyone with information can contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 3223 of Friday, 26 July, 2024.
