Schools have very much been a focus since 2020 with youngsters’ education environment being severely disrupted during the pandemic.

Pupils and teachers have had to study and teach from home, face the cancellation of exams, miss mixing with their friends and colleagues, and all return to an environment unlike anything they’ve experienced before.

But despite these immense challenges, schoolchildren, teachers and their schools have all worked incredibly hard to support each other and their wider community.

Highland Heroes 2022 aims to shine a light on those schools with the award for school of the year.

The school of the year will be a school where the teachers and teams within raise the standards of education and make a positive impact on the personal and academic success of its students and the wider community.

The school of the year award is sponsored by MacGregor Industrial Supplies, Inverness.

Marie Forsyth, clothing and branding divisional manager from MacGregor Industrial Supplies, said: “Schools play a vital role in our lives, and we can sometimes take it for granted their importance in protecting and strengthening the hopes and happiness of young people. At MIS we believe there has never been a more important time than now to show recognition and highlight all the achievements made by our schools.

“We’re delighted to support Highland Heroes 2022 and the award for the school of the year.

“We owe so much to our schools, and I encourage everyone to show their support by nominating their local school.”

Once all of your nominations have been submitted, our judging panel will create a shortlist which will then go before a public vote to choose the Highland Heroes 2022. In addition to the 14 main awards, there is also a very special accolade, the hero of heroes, which gives the ultimate recognition to our winning heroes.

It will be chosen by the judging panel from among all of the winners and will be announced on the night of the awards ceremony.

All of the awards will be presented at the event at the Kingsmills Hotel, Inverness, on Thursday, March 24.
