Rainbows flowed through the Highland capital today as hundreds flocked to the city centre to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community.

The sun shone on Inverness as just under 1000 people from all over the region paraded at the Highland Pride march.

This year’s event – which coincided with Edinburgh Pride and are somewhat different to previous years due to renovation works at Bught and Northern Meeting Park – culminated in Falcon Square with stalls and entertainment following inside Eastgate Shopping Centre.

Highland Pride Chair, Sand Owsnett, said: “I think it’s been absolutely fantastic. We were worried that because we were ending in Falcon Square and doing things differently this year that there wouldn’t be many people coming, but in the end, we had an amazing turnout.

“The management at Eastgate Shopping Centre has been incredible in supporting us and enabling us to do the entertainment after the parade, so that’s been amazing,

“All the stall holders have been really busy so to have this space has been really great.

“I think visibility and inclusion are really important, to give people the opportunity on a day like this to come together, to be proud of who they are and for the allies and families to show their support. And just to have a celebration and a fun time!”

This year’s pride month saw events taking place all across the Highlands, from the Festival Fortnight organised by LEAP sports and events celebrating the LGBTQI+ community.

The Highland Pride-organised party will take place on Saturday, July 6 at Eden Court, with tickets now on sale.
