Polling stations in the strath will be open until 10pm tonight for the European Parliamentary elections.
Doors opened at 7am for people to cast their vote in the European Elections.
Already more than 16,551 people have returned postal votes.
The Local Returning Officer for the Highland Council counting area at the European Parliamentary elections is Donna Manson.
She said: “We want to make sure people know that they should use a single X when they vote in this election.
"The X should be placed in the empty box alongside the chosen party or candidate.
"Everyone who is registered to vote should have received a card with details of the polling place where they can cast their vote but if they have any queries they should get in touch with our election team on 01349 886657.”
The statement of parties and individual candidates nominated can be found on the council’s website www.highland.gov.uk
The Highland count will take place on Sunday at the Football Academy in Dingwall from 4.30pm onwards as the polls do not close in Italy until that day.
The council will be keeping people up-to-date during the different stages of Sundays count through their facebook and twitter accounts @HighlandCouncil
