MORE than 2.5 million Scots have now received their first Covid vaccinations.

The milestone was reached on Friday, when the Scottish Government published its latest daily update.

More than 22,000 people received their first jag in the past 24 hours – taking the total to 2,515,748.

And almost 16,000 received their second dose over the same period, for a running tally of 414,540.

Elsewhere, there were 414 new positive tests for Covid-19 across Scotland in the past 24 hours. This represented two per cent of all tests carried out during that period.

Sadly, four further deaths have been recorded among people who tested positive for the virus in the last 28 days.

No hospital statistics – or health board specific figures – were available due to the Easter weekend, although these will be updated on April 6.
