INVERNESS SHERIFF COURT: North Carolina man charged with causing the death of an Inverness couple and their young grandson on the A9 near Slochd Summit due to alleged dangerous driving

A 66-year-old North Carolina man has been charged in connection with the death of an Inverness couple and their two-year-old grandson in a crash on the A9 near Slochd Summit on July 5.
Paul Gillcrist is accused of driving dangerously and causing his 65 year old wife, Kathy serious injury.
In addition, Gillcrist is facing a second dangerous driving charge said to have occurred elsewhere on the A9 between Carrbridge and Dalwhinnie.
The tourist was not present when the case called at Inverness Sheriff Court as he and his wife are still hospitalised.
Gillcrist was driving a Mercedes at the time and there was a collision with a Ford Fiesta.
The three occupants of the Ford, David McPherson, his wife Elza McPherson of Telford Street, Inverness and their grandson who was not named by police were killed.
Mr McPherson died at the scene while his wife passed away in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and his grandson died in Raigmore Hospital, Inverness.
Gillcrist made no plea, was committed for further examination and granted bail.
