Two more confirmed Highland coronavirus cases as national death toll goes up by six

Two more people in the Highlands have tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours.

They are among 179 new cases since yesterday, taking the national figure to 1563.

The number of deaths in Scotland increased by six to 47.

There are 44 confirmed cases in the NHS Highland area. Neighbouring Grampian has 66 cases.

The most are in the Greater Glasgow & Clyde health board area, where 449 people have been diagnosed with the disease.

So far there have been 14,624 Scottish tests carried out.
