ScotRail has announced temporary speed limits during the heatwave.

ScotRail are imposing speed restrictions today including in the Highlands as a heatwave hits the UK.

The train operator warned that a number of routes would be affected by the lowered speed limits from 1pm to 8pm.

The lower limits are to protect the tracks and overhead wires.

Temperatures are set to soar today right across the UK with highs of up to 26 degrees Celsius.

One of the major routes experiencing disruption is between Inverness and Glasgow Queen Street.
