Road stays closed at Tomintoul

Traffic Scotland confirms that the A939 Tomintoul 10 kilometres south at Bridge of Leachd is closed.

The snow gates were shut today just after 5pm after more heavy snows and plummeting temperatures.

It was confirmed at 5.14pm that they remained closed due to adverse weather conditions.

At Aviemore the Glenmore ski road was also closed today as the big freeze set in but enterprising skiers were pictured turning into their own private piste.

Social media has been carrying footage of several snowsports fans making the post of the heavy snows and the complete absence of traffic on the road.
