Time is running out for parents in Badenoch and Strathspey to enrol their children at primary school for the new academic year.

Tomorrow is the final day to register children for P1 for the next school session starting on 16 August 2022.

Enrolment for early learning and childcare (ELC) places will open on February 14.

There is no face-to-face enrolment again this year due to the Covid pandemic and it is taking place for both ELC and P1 online.

Children who will be five years of age on or before 28 February 2023 will be eligible to enrol for P1 up to tomorrow.

Those born between 1 March 2018 and 29 February 2020 will be entitled to a funded ELC place.

For all ELC places, enrolment week will be February 14 to 18 February.

A council spokesperson said: "Although you may wish your child to attend a school other than your catchment primary school, you must first enrol at your catchment school and then make a placing request.

"Please note once you have enrolled your child online, the school or ELC provider will contact you to arrange the necessary induction for your child.

"Parents who do not have access to the online enrolment process should contact their catchment school or preferred ELC setting during enrolment week via email or telephone to request a paper copy of the enrolment form."
