Highland Hollywood star Karen Gillan posts first pic of baby as Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Who and Jumanji actress reveals her daughter’s name is Clementine
Highland Hollywood actress Karen Gillan has shared a first picture of her new baby daughter - and her sweet-sounding name.
The Guardians of the Galaxy, Doctor Who and Jumanji superstar took to Instagram to post two pictures of her and US comedian husband Nick Kocher with little Clementine.
The former Kinmylies Primary and Charleston Academy pupil (37) was holding Clementine and beaming with pride in one picture, while also appearing with Nick in another mischievous snap holding ‘Best Mum Ever’ and ‘Best Dad Ever’ mugs.
Karen wrote on Instagram: “2024 – thank you for giving us Clementine.”
She added: “Also… I shot a film called ‘Let’s Have Kids’ right as I got preggo in real life so take that Daniel Day Lewis.”
That was a reference to Day Lewis’s tendency to immerse himself in roles through method acting.
Another photo shows Atlanta-born husband Nick Kocher proudly holding his daughter.
Celebrities including Gemma Chan, Tom Payne, Brett Goldstein, Jenna Coleman and Zoe Saldana sent their congratulations in response to the post, while fans also poured out congratulations.
Karen, who always talks of her love of Inverness and who is an ambassador for the city’s Highland charity Mikeysline, was photographed pushing a grey pram in Los Angeles on Monday, December 9.
That followed first photos taken of Karen and her bump confirming pregnancy in September at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) where she appeared for her part in the movie The Life of Chuck.
It is not yet known when Clementine and family will make their first visit to Inverness as a family.
