A Strathspey writer has put together a collection of short stories penned from her childhood to the present day.

Janet King partly brought her works together under the title 'The Bearskin Rug and Other Haunting Tales'.

She told the Strathy: "The stories have been written over a number of years from childhood – The Bearskin Rug – referring to holidaying with my aunt to a later Alpine expedition 'Rifugio Gonella'.

“'The Changeling' and 'A Very Fishy Business' have local connections with Strathspey.

A friend thought they were worth putting into print and with her help I have now done so.

"It has taken about a year but has been a good distraction from my husband Ron’s death in September 2020."

There are 12 short stories in the collection and £1 from each sale will go to the Highland Hospice.

'The Bearskin Rug and Other Haunting Tales' is now on sale locally at The Bookmark in Grantown, Speyside Centre by Dulnain Bridge and Caberfeidh Bookshop in Kingussie.
