High Life Highland has revealed details of the opening hours for its three leisure centres in Badenoch and Strathspey once lockdown eases later this month.

The charity will initially be running shorter hours at the venues.

The Craig MacLean Sports Centre in Grantown will be opening its doors either on April 26.

Aviemore Community and Sports Centre and the Badenoch Centre in Kingussie will be welcoming people back from the next day.

Indoor exercise classes will resume from May 17 in line with Covid guidelines.

HLH also operates the Highland Folk Museum in Newtonmore and has said the attraction will reopen on May 5.

Douglas Wilby, HLH’s director of sport and leisure, said: “Our leisure teams have been providing outdoor classes since last month, which due to popularity have seen additional classes added.

“These sessions will continue until May 17, which is the expected date when it is hoped our indoor class programme can be resumed.

“In the meantime, leisure centres and swimming pools will reopen, on a pre-booking system on April 26.

"Customers and members can participate in swimming, attending the gym and children’s activities such as swimming lessons.”

The three local sports centres will initially be reopening in Aviemore and Kingussie from Tuesday to Thursday 7am to noon and 3pm to 8pm and Saturday 9am to noon.

The Craig MacLean Sports Centre will have longer hours to accommodate the Learn to Swim programme, and close only on Sundays.

Its operating hours will be Monday (7.15am to 8.30am and 3.30pm to 8pm); Tuesday and Thursday (4pm to 8pm); Wednesday (7.15am to 8.30am and 4.30pm to 8.30pm); Friday (7.15am to 8.30am and 4pm to 8pm) and Saturday 9am to 1pm.

HLH is bringing back staff from furlough from next week ahead of the Scottish Government date of April 26 when leisure centres across the country can re-open but with some Covid-19 precautions in place.
