London North Eastern Railway (LNER) is advising customers of possible disruption to their journeys this weekend as Storm Dennis is expected to bring severe weather conditions to the UK.

High winds and heavy rain are forecast resulting in possible speed restrictions being imposed by Network Rail along much of the LNER route.

The company which runs the daily link from the strath to the North East of England and London said it will be operating reduced services over the coming two days.

As a result, journey times will be longer and short notice delays and cancellations are expected.

Warrick Dent, LNER Safety and Operations Director, said: “We are encouraging our customers with tickets dated for Saturday or Sunday to defer travel to Monday where possible.

“We expect services to be extremely busy throughout the weekend and will have extra staff on duty to help.”

For the most up to date travel information, customers can check www.lner.co.uk or follow @LNER on Twitter.
