Exit poll predicts Conservative win in Moray West, Nairn and Strathspey as first ballot box arrives at Elgin Town Hall
A SKY News exit poll is predicting a 95% chance of a Conservative win in Moray West, Nairn and Strathspey as the first ballot box arrived in Elgin Town Hall ahead of counting in the Moray West, Nairn and Strathspey constituency.
It was just after 10.15pm when the box from the Bishopmill polling station arrived, after a short journey of less than half a mile.
However, in constituency which stretches as far south as Dalwhinnie – 70 miles away – it will be some time before all the ballots from all 59 polling stations have arrived.
Election staff are predicting a 4.30am declaration.
The leader of Moray Council, Councillor Kathleen Robertson is the Tory candidate as she bids for Westminster for the first time.
The SNP have a 5% chance of winning the seat with former Moray Council leader Cllr Graham Leadbitter, according to the poll.
It is set to be a long night ahead, not only in Moray but across Scotland and the UK, with Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer expected to sweep to power at No.10
