The doctor, based in the Paediatrics Department of Inverness' Raigmore Hospital, since August, has always sung and is trained in classical singing.

He said: “Singing to the patients has always been something I have done. It’s a natural thing for me to sing and when you work in paediatrics its fun to be silly and make the kids laugh.

“It has been getting a lot of attention and I am now being asked if I am the ‘singing doctor’ but if it works for the patients then I’m happy.”

Iona McGauran, Lead Nurse at Raigmore Hospital, said: “It’s been great to see the reaction this video has had. Ryan was just doing what came naturally to keep his patient calm but it was a lovely video to see and the feedback from patients and their families has been fantastic to hear.

"He may start getting requests!”
