YOU can’t beat the Highlands and Islands for adventure and outdoor fun!

From abseiling to zip lines – and everything in between – you really do have the ultimate A to Z of outdoor fun right on your doorstep.

And we want to hear all about your adventures.

In the absence of the Highlands and Islands Tourism Awards (HITA) this year, HITA have launched the #HITAHero campaign to promote local tourism and support the fantastic businesses and operators here.

There’s been a great response since the campaign was launched in May with an overall reach of 52,829 across the HITA Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn channels.

But you can share all your local recommendations and favourite places by using #HITAHero and you could win a fantastic prize in the monthly competition.

When you share your top picks and photos you will be automatically entered into the competition draw. In June, the prizes are a seal spotting cruise for two with Calum’s Seal Trips, Plockton and paddle boarding with Sutherland Adventure Company, Brora.

Last month's winners were Kenneth Loades and Claire Doughty. Kenneth recommended the Seafood Shack in Ullapool while Claire had great fun zipping through the trees at Zip Trek, Aviemore.

And, of course, by sharing your pictures and stories you will be supporting the excellent tourism businesses across the region too.

The past year has given us the opportunity to explore more of what’s available on our doorstep and appreciate the amazing open spaces surrounding us. Throughout the Highlands and Islands, the diverse landscape is a natural playground with mysterious woodlands and idyllic beaches, glistening lochs and mountain trails, all of which offer the chance for an adventure.

If zip lines and gorges are not your thing, saddle up for a pony trek.

Whether you enjoy the exhilarating rush of watersports, exploring new outdoor spaces when hiking or cycling through local woodlands, we want to hear from you.

Using the #HITAHero hashtag, share a photo of your favourite outdoor or adventure experience and spread the excitement.

Remember, you can share all your great tourism recommendations using the #HITAHero.

July’s theme is all about dining out so tell us about the best bar or pub, best informal dining and best restaurant experiences you’ve had and you could win an exciting prize!
