Seven additional Covid-19 cases across NHS Highland area; increase came as 255 new coronavirus infections were recorded in Scotland over past 24 hours

SEVEN fresh cases of Covid-19 have been recorded across NHS Highland.
The region’s cumulative number of confirmed infections rose from 5101 to 5108 when the Scottish Government published the latest update on Friday afternoon.
There were 255 positive tests for the virus across Scotland in the past day. This equated to 1.5 per cent of all those people tested during that 24 hour window.
Ninety-three people were receiving treatment for Covid-19 in the country’s hospitals last night – which was unchanged from yesterday.
And the number of those in intensive care was also unchanged, on 12.
Sadly, one further death was also recorded among people who tested positive for the virus in the past 28 days.
Elsewhere in the north of Scotland, NHS Orkney recorded its first new positive test for more than a month after its tally rose by one, to 72.
There were no new cases in either NHS Shetland or NHS Eileanan Siar however.
Ten further positive tests were registered in NHS Grampian, for a running total of 14,864.
While 15 fresh infections were recorded across NHS Tayside, for a tally of 14,611.
Scotland has now registered 224,851 confirmed positive tests since the pandemic began.
Almost 2.76 million Scots have now had their first vaccination jag, while nearly 950,000 have had their second.
