The ski road – also known as the C38 – was closed in both directions.

An eye witness told the Strathy that it looked like a serious incident.

The accident occurred around half a mile past the turn-off for the Badaguish Outdoor Centre heading towards Loch Morlich

He said: "There were a couple of ambulances in attendance, within walking distance from the Badaguish turn-off. There were two ambulances and the service's four by four.

Emergency services were in attendance a short time after the accident.

There appear to have been two vehicles involved but this has not been confirmed by the police.

There are reports of lengthy tailbacks especially on the Loch Morlich side of the accident scene.

A temporary diversion was put in place for cars and other smaller vehicles via the Badaguish Outdoor Centre turn-off and the forestry track with staff at the complex helping to point traffic in the right direction.

But it was not suitable for caravans and larger vehicles.

The Strathy has contacted Police Scotland for more details.
