The Scottish Labour Party candidate for Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch and the Highlands and Islands Region has today announced a series of candidate surgeries as the Holyrood election campaign begins.

Due to the restrictions on door-to-door campaigning and in-person events, John Erskine will be holding a series of digital surgeries to help people in the strath meet their Scottish Labour candidate and ask any questions they might have.

These will be conducted via Zoom and will be a series of one-to-one conversations which can be booked in advance.

Mr Erskine said: “Normally as the Scottish Parliament election campaign begins, I'd be out knocking doors in every part of the Highlands and Islands and speaking with local people to hear their stories and concerns ahead of polling day.

"Due Covid-19 however, this campaign will be like never before, so I'm looking forward to holding a series of on-line candidate surgeries to give people the opportunity to speak with me directly and meet their local candidate.

"This election campaign must focus on solutions which will deliver a fairer recovery for the Highlands and Islands and a stronger Scotland.

“Over the next six weeks and beyond, Scottish Labour will focus on what unites us, not what divides us.

“Working to deliver a national recovery plan will be Scottish Labour’s only priority.

“We can’t rely on Douglas Ross' Tories to deliver a recovery that works for everyone because they are happy to return to the failed economic model pre-Covid.

“And we can’t rely on Kate Forbes or the SNP to prioritise recovery because they have already made it clear they will prioritise a second referendum.

“It’s only by using both votes for Scottish Labour that people can guarantee we have a parliament focused on recovery."

Mr Erskine will hold candidate surgeries on Tuesday 6th April 5pm to 6pm; Saturday 10th April 10am to 11am and Tuesday 27th April 5pm to 6pm.

Appointments can be booked in advance by e-mailing VoteJohn@mail.com or via www.JohnErskine.com
