Today’s roads conditions report for strath and Highland region
Highland Council’s winter maintenance crews are the salt of the earth - and take plenty of it wherever they go, as temperatures stay low.
This morning’s roads conditions report for Badenoch and Strathspey, issued at 8.07, confirms the main issue is the negative road surface temperatures throughout the area, but a spokesperson for the team said that the service has high existing salt levels able to cope with them.
Today there is “no winter action needed and no known overnight issues.”
On neighbouring Inverness routes the morning has bee hit with grey frost on Tomatin area side roads, “otherwise roads are dry or salty damp.
“A gritter is heading out treating Tomatin side roads.”
On the Nairn side, negative road surface temperatures persist throughout the area but no winter action was required earlier this morning and there were no known overnight issues.
No schools are currently closed today due to the weather.
