Flood barriers have been installed in Nairn as an amber weather warning from the Met Office is due to take effect from just after midnight (Tuesday).
The warning covers several areas in the Highlands with parts of Nairn and Badenoch and Strathspey at particular risk of flooding.

Nairn:
Flood barriers have been installed at the River Nairn and at Harbour Street prior to the weather warning becoming effective overnight.
The Fishertown area of Nairn is at high risk of flooding and residents in this area, who have experienced flooding issues at their property in the past, can collect sandbags from the Highland Council’s depot at the recycling centre on the A939.
It is currently anticipated that water levels will peak in this area tomorrow (Tuesday, 31 December 2024) during the early afternoon.
Badenoch & Strathspey:
Aviemore: Dalfaber Road and Aviemore Holiday Park are anticipated to be at high risk of flooding during this amber weather warning.
Those staying at the caravan park are advised, if at all possible, to seek alternative accommodation due to the imminent risk of flooding in this area.
Members of the public are advised to routinely check the SEPA website for any relevant updates throughout the duration of the weather warning at floodline.sepa.org.uk.
Assistance can also be sought from the British Red Cross and more information is available at www.redcross.org.uk/get-help/prepare-for-emergencies.
Police are advising the public to delay travel until conditions improve and remain vigilant to debris and surface water on the roads.
