The latest chapter in a 10-year-old housing story at Carrbridge has begun, with a new application lodged with Highland Council for the village's "boy scout field".

Tulloch Homes Ltd, as part of a wide-ranging building programme for the strath, has applied for permission to build 47 houses, flats, associated roads and footways on land 80m south east of Carr Place.

The area off Carr Road has been zoned for housing for some years and the Inverness-based developers say that hae designed "a well-informed, integrated and creative solution for the site, in line with the approved development brief and in accordance with the Cairngorms National Park's design guidance."

Architects Bracewell Stirling Consulting maintain the proposed density in the new scheme is less than 24 units per hectare, "not too dissimilar to the 30 units suggested in the development brief to meet the site's quoted capacity.

"The proposals include a diverse mix of properties, from two-bedroom bungalows and terraced houses to three-bedroom bungalows and four-bedroom detached houses.

"The mix proposed would appear to be supported by the development brief and will deliver housing for 'local working households'."

The application includes 11 affordable houses, ranging from two and three-bedroom bungalows to two-bedroom cottage flats, three-bed semi-detached houses and a five-bed detached unit.

The village's community council have been appraised of the latest plans during pre-planning application consultations and chairman Andrew Kirk told the Strathy: "We are aware of the community's concerns."
