Police Scotland is advising the public to be on their guard over illicit tablets circulating in the Highlands.

They have reported that a number of people have been 'adversely affected' when taking pills referred to as Green Xanax, Hulk Xanax or Monster Xanax.

Police said they are thought to be causing serious effects.

A force spokesperson said: "Further support and information can be accessed through the Highland Overdose Prevention & Engagement (HOPE) App which is a source of information for people with drug or alcohol problems, and their families, that helps prevent overdose and encourages engagement.

"The charity Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol and Drugs can also offer support to families."
