A force spokesman said: "Persons unknown gained entry to the building and caused extensive damage caused to equipment.

"If anyone was in the area and saw anything suspicious or has any information regarding this incident, please contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting CR/0020680/22."

A club spokesman told the Strathy: "The gent's locker room door was forced and some golfers' equipment was damaged. The police are investigating and were door knocking on Saturday. We are installing CCTV to ensure that this does not recur."
