The Day Lodge is due to be replaced at Cairngorm Mountain in the next five years by a new mountain centre.

Two new and exciting more projects are being worked on at Cairngorm Mountain – albeit both are an at embryonic stage.

They are a replacement building for the Day Lodge and a new chairlift in Coire Cas.

The two developments are scheduled to be in place by 2027 as part of the Cairngorm Masterplan.

Cairngorm Mountain (Scotland) Ltd chief executive Susan Smith told the Strathy: “There are two key parts of the masterplan that we are working on at the moment and they will take time to get right.

“The first is a new chairlift from the car park up to the mid station and the second is a mountain centre for excellence to replace the Day Lodge.

"The latter is a very broad project as it will look at how we partner with stakeholders and others who are able to develop that commercial appeal for Cairngorm Mountain.”

Integrated green transport is also high on the priority list and resort bosses are keen to trial a pilot along with the Cairngorms National Park Authority.

Ms Smith said: “I would like to see something here next summer otherwise we are going to miss the opportunity and just be a talking shop and I am not interested in that.”
