An estimated £350,000 has been raised by participants in a gruelling 500-mile cycle ride for the Maggie’s Highlands cancer support centre.

They crossed the finish line in Inverness High Street on Friday following the five-day challenge that saw them tackle a series of challenging routes through the Cairngorms National Park including to Cairngorm Mountain.

Event co-organiser Willie Gray, managing director of Ark Estates, said. “It’s just an incredible feeling to have finished not just the cycle, but the two years of training and fundraising. To cross the line and see we had raised £350,000 for Maggie’s Highlands made it all worthwhile.

“It was an incredible feat of mental and physical endurance to compete 100 miles a day for the last five days – over some of the hardest terrain in Scotland.

"All the team did brilliantly and we couldn’t have done it without the support of the event team, our families and our incredible group of sponsors.”
