Dramatic drone footage has emerged showing the devastation caused by a major fire in Inverness last night - and the narrow escape for neighbouring buildings.

A building housing several businesses in Fairways Business Park was completely gutted by the fire, which began at around midnight and carried on into the early hours Sunday morning.

At least six fire crews were on scene at the height of the blaze, which completely gutted the building and destroyed one car.

It was a devastating blow for the businesses housed inside, with one telling its customers on Sunday that the fire had left them “truly heartbroken” but vowing to carry on.

Tributes have also flooded in for the emergency services for ensuring that the fire remained contained to that one building, which sits incredibly close to the Inverness Kart Raceway - which abuts onto it - as well as the Inverness and District Indoor Bowling Club and the Fairways bar and restaurant.

And now new aerial drone footage has revealed just how close the fire came to engulfing those buildings too - with the original building completely gutted but its neighbours seemingly miraculously untouched by the devastation mere feet away, thanks to the efforts of fire crews.
