Highland Council is inviting parents and carers to enrol their child for the next school session starting on August 16.

Enrolment for early learning and childcare (ELC) places will open on February 14.

However, due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, there will be no face-to-face enrolment again this year.

Enrolment for Primary 1 and all ELC providers, including local authority ELC settings, partner settings and commissioned childminders, will therefore take place online.

Please do not visit the school or ELC setting during enrolment week.

Children who will be five years old on or before February 28, 2023, will be eligible to enrol for Primary 1. The Primary 1 enrolment week for Highland schools is from today until Friday.

Children born between March 1, 2018, and February 29, 2020, will be entitled to a funded ELC place.

For all ELC places, enrolment week will be Monday, February 14, to Friday, February 18.

To enrol your child, for further information on completing the online form, the enrolment process, catchment areas, Gaelic Medium education, school transport and placing requests, visit the council's website.

Although you may wish your child to attend a school other than your catchment primary school, you must first enrol at your catchment school and then make a placing request.

Please note once you have enrolled your child online, the school or ELC provider will contact you to arrange the necessary induction for your child.

Parents who do not have access to the online enrolment process should contact their catchment school or preferred ELC setting during enrolment week via email or telephone to request a paper copy of the enrolment form.
